Booster Vaccines

The NHS has been asked to offer every eligible adult over the age of 18 a booster vaccination by 31 December.

This is clearly a huge challenge but it is one we are confident we can achieve.

All general practice teams have been asked to clinically prioritise our services to free up maximum capacity to support this national mission. Our triage system will remain in place and we will continue to deliver urgent care to those who need it, but we will be scaling back some of our routine services over the next 2-3 weeks.

This will allow our staff to support increased capacity at the Dearne Valley and Rossington vaccination hubs, to vaccinate housebound patients, and to run a range of practice-based pop up clinics for boosters.

All we ask of you is to please come forward for your booster when invited – when it comes to facing the Omicron variant, the booster really is key. The more people we can vaccinate, the better placed we will be to get through what promises to be a tough winter ahead.

And please – if you’ve been sceptical about vaccination and haven’t come forward for any doses so far, the door is always open. As of today we’ve been vaccinating for a whole year in Doncaster and the number of lives saved is a testament to how well these vaccines work.
